About Me

I’m a self-taught artist based in Minnesota. My artistic practice includes work in fine art, murals, illustrations, and even cartoons.

As a child, I received a book on how to draw comic book characters. As I worked through the exercises and lessons, something clicked. I was captivated by how the comic artists could capture the dynamic poses of figures, showcasing anatomy, power, grace, and speed, all while employing their unique stylizations to add an exaggeration here or leave out an unnecessary detail there. I would spend long hours on road trips or in my room sketching comic book superheroes.

My other great interest as a child was sports. When I wasn't drawing, I would be at practices or competitions for a variety of sports - golf, basketball, football, tennis, soccer or track. As I became more engulfed in a culture of athletics, my superhero idols began to morph from those in the comics to those on the field. The similarities to me were obvious, but the athletes were living and breathing people who I could watch do their heroic feats live. I still remember watching a high jumper named Matt Hemingway at the 2004 Athens Olympics and thinking "I really want to be that guy."

While my goal of being a professional athlete came up a bit short, my artistic practice endured. Today, I make pieces that capture these athletes and other figures in motion, to try to share some of the beauty that I appreciate in the world - from the weekend cyclist to the Super Bowl winning QB. I hope you enjoy my work, and if you connect with a piece and would like either your own original commission or a print, please get in touch.
